Ah, Sue, what the hell is happening over at the Fiddlehead? I don’t know where to start.
1. You won’t even name the reviewer. Perhaps you don’t want to contribute to the notoriety of this particular thought criminal by naming her, but this tactic seems more suitable for minor-league school shooters. Susan C. Haley. Was that so hard?
2. Internet bun fights are breaking out over the content of the review, which, thanks to you, we can’t read.
3. Pulling an entire print run because of one review? Is that a good use of funds for a heavily-subsidized publication?
4. As of 2016, Susan had published 22 reviews with the Fiddlehead, so maybe the total is somewhere close to 30 or 40? How does your trusted, intelligent, insightful reviewer transform into insensitive, ignorant, and incompetent overnight?
5. Using specific examples, can you explain how the Fiddlehead has contributed to “colonial destructiveness,” or is that just another meaningless woke buzzword you threw in to spice up your apology?
6. It looks like you did the brave thing and threw a couple of expendables under the bus. Considering the horrific nature of this “colonial destructiveness” can we expect your resignation within the week?
My comment section is open to you if you’d like to answer any or all of these questions. Meanwhile, here’s what others are thinking.
In a few days, Wayne will have more to say about this on his podcast.

Hey there old friend,
I was doing my morning prayers and was prompted to send up a prayer of support for a creative, and you came to mind😉. How wonderful to see that you are still writing with your signature strength, wit, and unflinching honesty! ‘Keep calm and carry on’ 👍🏻- Sue (Driedger) Hackett
Thanks, Sue!
